Photos and facial landmarks

Photos selected through Android or captured with the system camera are processed on your device. The app creates an upright, bounded working copy in private storage. A bundled MediaPipe Face Landmarker model locates facial features for editing, not identification. Your draft stores the working copy, normalized facial coordinates, editing settings and thumbnails. Photos and facial coordinates are not uploaded to Birdlab or a photo-editing server. No account or cloud edit history is provided.

Export and sharing

The source photo is not overwritten. Export creates a separate image in Android’s media library, without source GPS/EXIF metadata or private landmark/edit records. Choosing an app in Android’s share sheet transfers the selected file to that app, whose privacy policy applies. Exported and shared copies can remain after a draft is deleted or Mellua is uninstalled.

Advertising choices

Google AdMob Mobile Ads Next-Gen and Google UMP provide optional advertising and consent. Ads are requested only when UMP permits them. A restricted-data-processing signal is used by default; it limits some uses but does not eliminate processing. Applicable Google forms provide privacy choices; Settings exposes privacy options when UMP requires them. Editing and saving remain available without personalized-ad consent or an available ad.

Google SDK data

For advertising, measurement, diagnostics and fraud prevention, Google SDKs may process IP/network data (including approximate-location inference), app/ad interactions, crashes, performance data, advertising IDs, app-set IDs and other device identifiers. Transmission is encrypted. Processing varies with consent, region, serving mode and settings; non-personalized ads can still process data. Google determines retention of its data. Supported Android settings offer advertising-ID controls.

Retention and deletion

Drafts remain until you delete them, clear app data or uninstall. Deleting a draft removes its private working copy and editing data; source files and exports remain under your control. Android app backup is disabled. App-owned unfinished pending exports are cleaned up. Birdlab has no server copy of your photos or facial coordinates to delete.

Age and permissions

Mellua is a general-purpose editor intended for users18 and older, not directed to children. It does not collect birth dates or infer age from photos. An optional coarse18+ ad choice stays locally; unknown or younger/no-ad choices do not initialize advertising or consent SDKs. All editing tools remain available without ads. If local law requires a guardian’s permission for privacy choices, use the app with their guidance. Cancelling Android photo selection or system camera actions does not block other tools.

Website and support

Cloudflare delivers this static site and may process IP addresses and request/security metadata for delivery and protection. We add no site analytics, advertising scripts, cookies or tracking pixels. Email support receives your email address and message to respond; avoid private photos or unnecessary sensitive data. Request deletion of correspondence, subject to legitimate retention obligations.

Rights and changes

Depending on your location, you may have access, correction, deletion, objection, consent-withdrawal or supervisory-authority rights. Contact support@birdlab.net; we may ask for the minimum verification needed. Consult Google, Cloudflare or sharing recipients for data they directly hold. This policy is updated when actual processing changes.
